The learner is expected to be to analyze, evaluate, consider the surrounding business environment.
The learner should be able to:
- describe the financial concepts
- know and understand the financial accounting methods
- describe the elements of financial statements
- interpret the financial statements in relation to the organizational efficiency and decision making
This Workshop includes 3 activities. The first activity concerns the basic financial concepts and financial accounting methods. The second is to present and describe the elements of financial statements – Balance sheet, Income statement and Cash-flow statement. The third activity is to analyze and interpret financial statement information in relation to decision making.
This Workshop aims at mastering knowledge and skills of the VET students in managing the financial well-being of a business. The VET students will learn about financial accounting and the role of financial statements for different users. The learners will use ratios and other tools to draw inferences about a company’s financial performance and financial position.
Experiential workshops may entail a form of resistance by the participants as their active participation is required. Thus, if the participants are distant, a couple of ice breaking activities may be required. However, every experienced trainer knows how to deal worth such situations. Furthermore, some concepts presented may need more details for the participants to achieve the learning outcomes, which is why the partnership provides additional resources.

Step 1: Make a short description of the basic financial concepts and financial accounting methods (PPT).
Step 2: Pass out to participants the exercise Worksheet (Attachment 0.2).
Step 3: Let the VET students present their answers.

Step 2: Pass out to participants the exercise Worksheet (Attachment 0.3 and Attachment 0.4) and ask them to prepare financial statements.
Step 3: Let the VET students present their answers and discuss the main tasks and challenges they faced.

Step 2: Pass out to participants the exercise Worksheet (Attachment 0.5) and ask them to prepare the required analysis.
